CTBR Gilt Sale
In early 2009, the Livestock Department and members of the Texas Pork Producer's Association teamed up to bring the first ever production gilt show and sale associated with a major livestock show to the San Angelo Stock Show. After a long summer of planning, the first ever CTBR Texas Stars Gilt Show and Sale took place on the weekend of February 20-22, 2009. Over 400 gilts competed and the top 57 gilts were selected for the sale. The gilts averaged almost $1,000 per head! This was a great start for the event. Looking into the second year for the event, close to 900 entries have spilled into the show and we cannot wait to see what is in store!
*Pictures of sale lots will be available on the evening of February 23rd. Real-time bidding is available via the internet for this sale. Live audio and live video will allow buyers to bid on animals just as if they were present at the sale. Buyers must create an account prior to the sale. Please visit www.LiveAuctions.tv to create an account and request a buyer number. Instructions are available at to walk you through the account setup process.
